Flooding in Trinidad: Stay Safe and Help Others


Flooding in Trinidad: Stay Safe and Help Others

Flooding is ongoing across eastern and southern Trinidad, with several communities affected. The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service has issued a riverine flood alert for the Caroni River east of the Uriah Butler Highway.


The areas that have been most affected by the flooding include:


  • Sangre Grande
  • Siparia
  • Penal/Debe
  • Point Fortin

Residents in these areas are advised to avoid flooded areas and to take precautions to protect their property.


The flooding has been caused by heavy rainfall over the past few days. The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service is forecasting that the heavy rainfall will continue for the next few days.


The government has deployed emergency personnel to the affected areas to assist residents. The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) is also providing relief to residents who have been affected by the flooding.
